PREPARE FOR THE INTERVIEW
Like the President Prepares for a Press Conference
The president
has an answer ready for every question they throw at him.
You need to
be prepared for every question as well.
SCARY INTERVIEW QUESTIONS: "Tell Me About an Error that You Made" ... "Tell Me about Your Biggest Weakness" These
questions scare the bejimpererers out of a job hunter. Don't wimp out
when given them. Instead, tell about an error you've made or weakness,
and then tell how you've learned from that error, or learned how to
counterbalance that weakness. You'll show that you're confident and
self-aware.
Interview DO'S & DON'TS
Avoiding the mistakes that most job hunters make when interviewing.
Interviewing Trap: Beware of ALWAYS AGREEING with Your Interviewer
Sharp interviewers will mix some trick questions in with the
straightforward ones. If you agree with everything the interviewer says
because you think you should, you may make the wrong impression.
Never Accept a COUNTER OFFER!
Most executives who accept counter offers are no longer with that
employer 12 to 18 months later. They find that the problems that
caused them to resign are still there, despite the promises to change
them. In addition, those who accept counter offers find that they
become suspect, and are placed on the slow track at their companies.

to shoes, as well as your watch and briefcase.
Aw, C'Mon - PUT ON A TIE for an Interview
Overdressing for an interview is
unlikely to kill you. Underdressing will. Wear a suit or the woman's
equivalent thereof for an interview, whether it's with an employer, a
recruiter or a networking contact. Don't take the risk of dressing
business casual, or you could be casually dumped.
IF YOU NAME SOMETHING AS AN ISSUE, It Just Became One
If you bring up a potential drawback in the interview, you automatically bring it to the forefront and make it a drawback.
Interviewing
tip: SHUT UP! ... in other Words, Keep Your Answers Brief
Most
candidates don't know when to stop talking.
BEWARE of Doing a QUICK DIAGNOSIS of a Prospective Employer at the Interview
Keep your mouth shut when
interviewing rather than give advice on how to better manage a
company when interviewing. Few candidates know enough about the
company's unique problems to provide off-the-top-of-their-heads
solutions in the brief time available during an interview.
THANK YOU
NOTES: In Writing, Not by Email
Stand out
from the
others by sending a written thank you note after your interview.
A WOMAN'S GUIDE TO DRESSING for a Job Interview A
woman needs to walk a fine line between looking borderline masculine
and looking like Cinderella attending a fairy tale gala. The key is to
dress conservatively, not flashy, while still looking feminine.
